ENERGY STAR® Residential Lighting Program
What else can I do to save money and energy in my home?
1. Replace the five most-often used bulbs in your home with CFLs. You'll notice the savings right away.
2. Look for the ENERGY STARŪ when purchasing light fixtures. These fixtures meet federal energy efficiency and quality guidelines.
3. Turn off lights whenever they are not needed, even for a short period of time.
4. Keep bulbs and fixtures clean. Dirt will absorb the light and reduce the efficiency.
5. Replace halogen floor lamps and torchieres with compact fluorescent models. Halogen floor lamps pose a fire hazard. An energy efficient compact fluorescent model produces as much light, runs cooler, and uses only a fraction of the electricity.
