Let Efficiency Maine help you reduce the energy consumption of your building. Electricity use in commercial and government buildings can be cut by 20 percent or more when building operators manage and maintain their structures and building systems more effectively.
Building Operator Certification is a nationally recognized training program designed to educate facilities personnel in the energy and resource efficient operation and maintenance of building systems. Click here to find out more.
PowerSleuth
 The Maine Energy Education Curriculum Project is a three-year project that began in 2007 for the purpose of developing a coherent set of standards-based energy education curriculum materials for Maine students in grades 4-8. On September 30, 2009 all of the hard work that went in to developing these materials came to fruition with the launch of the PowerSleuth Curriculum. This curriculum contains materials available for free download from PowerSleuth.org.
Curriculum materials are based on national standards, research-informed, and aligned with the newly revised Maine Learning Results. Resources specific to Maine are included. A content advisory committee, comprised of individuals from the following organizations, the Maine Energy Education Program, the Maine Public Service (MPS) Energy Education Program, the Maine Lung Association (MLA), the Maine Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Air Quality Division, the Maine Public Utilities Commission’s (MPUC) Maine State Energy Program (MSEP), Chewonki Foundation and MPUC’s Efficiency Maine, has served as content advisors to the Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance (MMSA) in making connections to Maine’s energy context. The development of this connected and coherent set of energy education curriculum materials will establish a necessary and absent teaching resource for Maine teachers. Click here to find out more.

There are two energy education programs operating in the State of Maine. One program, the Maine Energy Education Program (MEEP) provides education on energy issues to fourth through twelfth grade students in central and southern Maine, while a second program, operated by Maine Public Service (MPS) Company offers educational programs in northern Maine. Both programs strive to increase consumer knowledge of energy efficiency - a fundamental market barrier to economically rational behavior. The programs provide school children with the information on electricity production, its use and conservation at home and at school, the effects of energy use on the environment, and the effects of energy use on the economy. Lessons learned in school by the students spill over into the home environment improving energy awareness and energy use habits at home. Click here to find out more.

Energy costs have risen to the top of the list of Mainer's economic concerns – and Efficiency Maine has experts on staff and on contract who can provide information about how to drive down electricity usage in your home or business. Demand for presentations is high, however, and Efficiency Maine is not able to provide speakers in all cases. Please note also that our speakers focus on electricity usage – although we can provide advice on where to turn for information about reducing other energy costs as well. Click here to find out more.
